You send me your ducks or your turkey. I lay the feathers out one at a time inside a hardwood frame I build by hand, and it comes back ready to hang in any room in the house.
Duck season builds
Every board is built from the bird you bring me, so no two match. Start with a base layout and add the head or body feathers if you want them.
Both wings open, laid symmetrical around the center of the bird. The one most hunters start with.

The balance is due when your board is finished, before it ships. Whole ducks get a $50 cleaning fee. If your board skips the body background, you can breast the duck out and keep the meat. Current turnaround is about 2 months from when your bird arrives. See all pricing.

Each board follows its own bird. The speculum, the body feathers, and the wood all come together differently every time, and that's the point.

How it works
Most of the work is on my end. Yours is getting the bird to me in good shape.
Message me first and we'll settle on the layout. A $200 deposit holds your build slot. Freeze the bird solid and follow the packing steps, or drop it off if you're in Billings.
I cut and join the frame by hand and lay every feather myself. Current turnaround is about 2 months from when your bird arrives.
When it's done I'll reach out to confirm your address and collect the balance. Then it ships to your door. Return shipping is included on duck boards.

Every row goes down by hand, following a layout drawn right on the board so both wings mirror each other when it's done.

I'm a hunter and woodworker in Billings, Montana. I started this because I wanted to display my birds in the most elegant way that could go on any wall in the house. That's still the goal with every board.
Every piece goes through my hands from the first frame cut to the last feather. You'll deal with me the whole way, and I answer every message myself.
