Questions

What hunters ask before they ship.

Don't see yours? Message me on Instagram or Facebook, or use the form on the home page. I answer every one myself.

Can I buy a finished piece?

No. Every board is built from a bird you legally harvested. Migratory bird feathers can't be bought or sold, so I only work from your own bird.

What birds do you work with?

Ducks and turkeys are my standard builds. Upland birds, other species, and boards with more than one bird are custom work. Ask me about yours.

How long does it take?

About 2 months from when your bird arrives at current volume. That can change during busy stretches of the season, and I'll tell you where things stand when you book.

How does payment work?

A deposit holds your build slot: $200 on duck boards and the Turkey Diamond Mount, $400 on the Turkey Wing Mount. The balance is due when your board is finished, before it ships.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final once work begins. That's why we talk the layout through first, so you know what you're getting before I start.

Who pays for shipping?

You cover shipping your bird to me. Return shipping is included on duck boards and paid by you on turkey boards.

Can I keep the meat?

Often, yes.

Turkeys and geese: cape them out and keep the meat.

Ducks without the body background: if your board is the base layout or the base plus head feathers, you can breast the duck out and keep the meat.

Ducks with the body background: I need the whole duck, frozen and uncut, because the background is built from its body feathers.

Is there a cleaning fee?

Birds that arrive whole get a cleaning fee of $50 per duck and $100 for any other bird. Here's how to pack your bird.

I'm in Billings. Can I drop it off?

Yes. Message me and we'll set a time.

Are you licensed?

Yes. I hold a federal migratory bird taxidermy permit (MBPER33345137) and a Montana taxidermist license.

Can I pick the frame finish?

Most boards are built in walnut. Custom finishes, like the pink-tinted frame on my daughter's hen mallard, are available. Ask me for pricing.

The bird deserves better than a freezer.
