Shipping & prep
Get your bird here in good shape.
The board can only be as good as the feathers that arrive. A frozen, well-packed bird ships fine across the country. Here's exactly how to do it.
Book first
Message me before you ship so we can settle on the layout. A deposit holds your build slot, and I'll send you the shipping address.
Freeze it solid
Ducks going on a board with the body background need to come whole and uncut. If your duck board skips the body background, you can breast it out first. Turkeys and geese can be caped out so you keep the meat. Get the bird into the freezer as soon as you can after the hunt and let it freeze all the way through before it ships.
Protect the feathers
Put a paper towel in the beak. Tuck the head under a wing or lay it flat against the body.
Double bag it
Seal the bird in a heavy-duty zip-top bag, then seal that inside a second one.
Box it up
Pack the bagged bird in a styrofoam cooler and put the cooler inside a cardboard box. No loose ice.
Include your tag
Ducks need a waterfowl taxidermy tag in the box. Message me if you're not sure what goes on it.
Ship it fast
Send it UPS or FedEx overnight. Two-day shipping is fine if you're close to Billings.
